Et cetera… a note from the world of typography

My personal favorite typeface is Centaur, which was originally designed by Bruce Rogers as titling capitals in 1914. He later added the Roman lowercase and the italic. The Oxford Lectern Bible, published in 1935, is considered to be Rogers’ masterpiece.

The ampersand below is from the Centaur ItalicAlternate letterset. It represents for me the life of the artist, the reaching out at a single point to touch or make manifest the work. And the work the result of internal work, of burrowing down below my own backyard to a channel, a foundation, and returning from that depth back up into the culture, the community.
